Undercurrents: Ep 33 - Redefining “a good neighbourhood”

What makes a good neighbourhood?
Low crime rates?
Strong property values?
Walkability and good schools?

In Episode 33 of Undercurrents, host Ken Ogasawara travels to the Queenston neighbourhood in St. Catharines, Ontario—a community many outsiders label “the worst neighbourhood in the city.” But is that the whole story?

Queenston: A Working Neighbourhood

Part of the Virtual Museum Lecture Series by the St. Catharines Museum, Paul Miller explores Queenston through the stories of the people who have lived and worked there across generations.  While acknowledging present-day challenges, it invites viewers to see the community through a lens of dignity and possibility—grounded in its history as a place that has always “worked” for its people.
